	Nantucket Collectible Tin Nantucket artist Barbara Capizzo walked the Island's beaches and collected the shells she would later use to produce this original art sketching. Notice her hand-written notes about the shells she found that January day on Nantucket beaches, then included in her painting, which in turn was used for creating this distinctive octagon shaped collectible tin. We tell the story of the Sailor's Valentine, right on the back of each tin: “The Sailors Valentine” A 19th Century Tradition Sailors returning home from faraway ports brought gifts of specially chosen seashells presented in a wooden box. These beautiful designs held within them their personal message of love. In the same tradition, this Sailor’s Valentine was inspired by the beautiful shells found on the shores of our Far-a-Way Island.
